I am finally getting to the the subject that bothers me almost as much as as the 9/11 theories, and probably the longest running scam ever. I like to call them health and wellness scams, and they all sound something like this: “did you know that doctors and pharmacies want to keep you sick?” or “did you know that every man made chemical can kill you and probably is making you sick?” These might not be exact quotes, but these are the messages that they are sending. The preeminent charlitan and former snake oil salesman of today is one Kevin Trudeau. He is, of course, a former snake oil salesman who got busted by the FTC for making false and misleading claims about his “supplements” i.e. snake oil. He is also a former felon, who has found a legal way to pick your pocket. Trudeau’s voodoo is passed around like it is unquestionable and is built on the sort of logic only the criminally insane can truly appreciate. This is not to say that those who believe it are insane, but only someone who believes that everyone is out to get him would really appreciate Mr.Trudeau’s paranoid hypotheses. Trudeau’s paranoia for sale is absurd on its face and is so brazen and in your face (“Natural Cures “they” don’t want you to know about” can you think of a more obnoxious title?) it makes one wonder what kind of publisher would actually publish this book. Please, do us all a favor and if you actually believe 10% of the things in this book just get it over with and join the Christian Scientists. I’m sure however they explain their religion it will make more sense than Mr. Trudeau’s nonsensical paranoia. And then you will have a better reason for believing what you believe–it is a religious belief. Okay, I realize this might seem a little harsh, and I personally know at least one person who actually has wasted $20-30 on this “book” and the last thing I want them to do is join the Christian Science movement. My only point is that it would make more sense to do that than just believe this stuff because you like how it sounds. The point is, these people who sell these things sound paranoid. This is not a problem in itself, but when their paranoia is not based on anything concrete, not based upon verifiable facts, but only is propogated through innuendo and hysteria. I have no doubt, given Mr.Trudeau’s background that he does go to the doctor and he probably takes aspirin if he has a headache. He gives all of those hippies and weirdos who think that only natural things like arsenic, mercury, lead, etc. can possibly be good for you, a bad name.
Instead of listing references here, there are really tons of them on the web, just do a single search on his name. Also I highly recommend that you read The sceptical environmentalist and any book in the Politically Incorrect Guide (PIG) series as well, with the Politically Incorrect Guide to Science being the most applicable and probably the most eye opening book you’ll read in a long time. Yes, even you, the lover of only fiction books. You are missing out if you restrict yourself only to fiction. After all, truth is often stranger than fiction.
