If anyone doubts there is a God, I’m pretty sure this should help convince you. Ryan Seacrest was bitten by a shark. Since God is merciful though, he didn’t eat him whole or kill Seacrest. I think it’s pretty clear though that God isn’t a fan of reality tv, particularly the extremely obnoxious and obnoxiously popular American Idol. Just so you know this isn’t just wishful thinking or some sort of joke, here’s a link to the story: http://omg.yahoo.com/news/ryan-seacrest-i-was-bit-by-a-shark/11306?nc It really is almost too good to be true.

The democrat’s answer to high gas prices: panic.
Posted in Liberalism, Politics on July 25, 2008 by Tadd LummTell me which of these parties sounds like the party of the suddenly important concept of “hope.” One says that we need to start drilling for oil now, wherever necessary while allowing the market to work and while people actually choose to conserve fuel because they can’t afford not to. The other party says that actually increasing the global supply of oil couldn’t possibly help, and the only solution is to panic or just get rid of the troublesome free market altogether. We can’t drill off shore. We can’t drill in ANWAR. We can’t have a fuel tax “holiday.” Their reason? It wouldn’t help. In fact, the democrats would say any plan by a republican wouldn’t help if it was implemented tomorrow and gas dropped to $2 a gallon. Except for our own national convention. When it’s just the Democratic National Committee not paying fuel taxes, then it would help. See: http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008/jul/22/city-gives-dnc-host-committee-pass-gas-tax/
Funny how that works. This is a typical pragmatic democratic idea. They believe their motives are so pure and their causes so noble that the rules don’t apply. The end justifies the means.
So what brilliant idea has the democratic congress come up with to help cut fuel prices? Open the national oil reserves. After all, we’re in a crisis! The election is only months away and if gas is still really expensive, we might not actually reelect all of her precious democrat candidates! Talk about a national emergency. I can’t think of anything more dangerous to national security. Because we all know what national security hawks Pelosi and her ilk are. The democrats’ other brilliant idea: stop speculation. Because everyone loves to shoot the messenger. Commodity markets which allow “speculation” are some of the simplest forms of the free market possible. And democrats hate the free market. But these markets save us from ourselves by increasing prices as supplies diminish forcing us to conserve and preventing shortages. Speculation that drives prices up higher than they should be creates lower prices when whatever caused the price spike blows over. Speculation is beneficial because it allows companies to plan their budget. Without it, prices would be constantly changing and businesses would close when unexpected price increases come. Speculation allows for stability in this way. Airlines in particular make fuel contracts well in advance of when they actually buy the fuel. They do this through the commodity market. If the speculators are actually doing what the democrats accuse them of doing–driving up prices beyond what supply and demand dictates–they do so at their own peril, for the price of oil will correct itself, and drastically.
Farewell, Tony.

Tony Snow has passed into eternity, no doubt bringing his infectious smile and positive attitude with him. He was a gentleman, a defender of conservatism, and a breath of fresh air in his work as press secretary. To paraphrase Rush Limbaugh (I can’t find the quote now) he was the first press secretary to deny the premise of a question of a member of the White House press corp. This is key, since the press tries to keep the illusion of objectivity, yet they insist on questions which reveal their hostility to the President. Infamous is his confrontation with NBC White House correspondent David (don’t call me a partisan) Gregory. If you notice in the clip, Tony Snow manages to stay above the fray, even chuckling while making the truth known.
More poignantly, Snow is interviewed by Gregory in a heart wrenching interview of a dying man.
