Obama Wants You To Read This Blog

I’m not sure if you’ve seen those annoying ads on the interweb, but they seem to be everywhere. Even on conservative blogs, some brilliant marketer has decided that the tagline “Obama wants you to shave your back” is going to sell backhair trimmers. It sounds absurd, but maybe there’s a reason that they choose to advertise that the President of the United States is urging you to get your bunions removed. I think they are counting on two factors: first, people are so used to seeing companies get bailed out and billions upon billions of dollars wasted on “economic stimulus,” and second, liberals are pro-authoritarian. While a few might have a mind of their own, many or most are just as willing to take a good liberal at their word. After all, they want their politicians to dictate how much money people can make, what kind of lightbulbs we can buy, what temperature our thermostats can be set at, where and when we can smoke, what kind of toilet paper we can use, how many kids we should have, where we can live, what we can do with our property, etc. So maybe if they think Barack Obama wants them to refinance their mortgage they might just click on the banner.
